The NMC Test of Competence is a vital tool for nursing professionals looking to showcase their mastery and abilities. This computer-based test (CBT) aims to evaluate the understanding, abilities, and knowledge of nurses aspiring to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the UK. By undergoing this exam, nurses can establish their competence and meet the requirements for practising nursing in the UK.
The computer-based test is conducted at a Pearson VUE test centre and includes new tests every year. Nurses have three attempts to pass the exam, and failing to do so would require additional training before reattempting the exam.
Our NMC Test of Competence revision resource is a reliable and effective way to prepare for the test. Equipped with comprehensive test questions, our CBT material will aid nurses in comprehending the format and tone of the actual test, providing them with the necessary skills to pass the exam and secure their position as registered nurses in the UK.
The NMC Test of Competence serves as the path to fulfilling your nursing aspirations. By successfully passing this exam, nurses can register with the NMC and embark on new prospects, both domestically and globally. This opens doors for nursing professionals to advance their careers and make a positive impact on the lives of their patients.
Pearson Vue will send you an email containing your account details and a temporary password for logging in. If you opt to take the Test of Competence for return to practice, the first step is to schedule the test through your online NMC account.
After you have created your Pearson Vue account, you will receive a confirmation email from them indicating that your account is active. You can then proceed to log in and make arrangements to book and pay for your exam. Once you have logged in to your Pearson Vue account, you will need to select the 'view exams' button, identify the appropriate exam that matches your application type, and choose both modules (Part A and Part B) for your initial attempt
Our online CBT material is a great way to prepare for the exam. It is split into two question banks, Part A (Numeracy) and Part B (Clinical), which mirror the 2021 Adult Nursing Test of Competence blueprint.
By working through the 508 practice questions, you'll become familiar with the exam format and will be able to identify areas where you need to improve your knowledge, which in turn will boost your confidence and enhace your preparation for the actual examination.
After completing the test, your results will be submitted and calculated. You will receive a pass or fail result for both Part A (Numeracy) and Part B (Clinical).
You can access your CBT results in several ways:
However, the NMC Online account will only show an overall exam result for each attempt. For example, if you pass Part A but fail Part B on your first attempt, the overall CBT result in NMC Online will show as 'Fail'. Once you pass both Part A and Part B, your NMC Online account will be updated to show 'Pass'.
The CBT consists of Part A and Part B, which are taken in one sitting but evaluated independently. If you fail one of these, you will only need to retake that specific part. Each attempt is counted as one sitting, and you have a maximum of three attempts per application, with a minimum of 10 days between each sitting. If you fail all three attempts, your application will be closed, and you must wait six months before submitting a new application to retake the CBT.
