Geriatric Medicine SCE

I am a Geriatrician specialising in geriatric intermediate care with a special interest in metabolic bone disease. Currently, I am working for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

I have experience in delivering teaching via online media, having tutored for the University of South Wales and the University of Wales in these media. I have also previously been a Junior Editor for the British Medical Journal.

I was awarded my MBBS from the University of Calcutta (2004) after the completion of my undergraduate medical education and internship at Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital. In 2006, I received my MRCP (UK) and MRCPS (Glasgow) awarded by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

I have passed my Geriatric Medicine SCE and in 2014, I received my CCT in General Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Stroke Medicine from the GMC after successful completion of a 6 year training programme. Additionally, in 2016 I was awarded my FRCP (Glasgow) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow for significant contribution in the specific subspecialty interest within General Medicine.

Currently, I am working as a Consultant Stroke Physician and am the Clinical Lead for Stroke Services at the Comprehensive Stroke Centre at Salford Royal University Teaching Hospital. Additionally, I am the Honorary Clinical Senior Teaching Fellow at Manchester University and run a Tertiary regional Specialist small vessel disease clinic, specialising in Neurogenetics in Cerebral vascular disease and have research interest in pharmacogenetics in Stroke.

I am a Consultant Geriatrician and Honorary Senior Lecturer in London with subspecialty interests in Care Home Medicine and Geriatric Oncology. I qualified in 2003 and have worked as a Consultant Geriatrician since 2014 in a centre of excellence. I am actively interested in education and research, completing an MD (Res) in 2016. I have published scientific papers and textbooks, including the award-winning Problem-Solving in Older Cancer Patients. I am experienced in teaching Geriatric Medicine and supporting Geriatric Medicine StRs in their training, including preparation for the SCE and their future consultant careers. I hold and have held a number of UK national positions and have participated as a Geriatrician expert with NHS England, NICE, and the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI), as well as activities with the British Geriatrics Society.

I am an experienced Hospitalist, Internist, Researcher and Reviewer, with over 18 years’ experience in healthcare. Currently, I work as an Associate Professor and Consultant in Internal Medicine at the RAK Medical & Health Sciences University and RAK Hospital, respectively.

I graduated from the GMC Srinagar, and earned my doctorate (MD in Internal Medicine) from SKIMS, Srinagar. I am a member of the MRCPUK, British Geriatric Society, and the European Society of Geriatric Medicine. Additionally, I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians, and direct Fellowship of the American College of Physicians.

I have been involved in many research projects and have many national and international research articles under my name. My main research interests are geriatric medicine, respiratory medicine and neurology.

I am a senior general practitioner, working within a long-term care residence caring for 1,500 residents. I graduated in 1993 from the University of Malta, and am also a Fellow of the College of Physicians (Edinburgh), Fellow of the Malta College of Family Doctors and International Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

I hold an MSc in Primary Care and General Practice (Ulster University), a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education (USW) and the Specialist Certificate in Education in Geriatric Medicine. I have served as Assessment Lead and AKT Lead within the Malta College of Family Doctors.

PhD MD, MRCP UK, SCE Geriatric

I currently work as an Author for StudyPRN and a Lecturer and Geriatric Consultant in the Internal Medicine Department at Alexandria University Hospital, Egypt. Additionally, I am a Reviewer for the Alexandria Journal of Medicine (AJoM), the Quality Control Lead for Scientific Research in the Internal Medicine Department, and the quality improvement projects Lead. Furthermore, I also lead the Clinical Audit team of the Internal Medicine Department, and I supervise the training of House Officers within the Geriatric Unit.

I am a Consultant Stroke Physician/ Geriatrician at University Hospital Lewisham. I started my career as a Junior Doctor for the NHS in 1996. I have completed MBBS and FRCP. After completing the Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training (CCST), I started working as a Consultant Physician in 2009 at Basildon University Hospital. I moved to University Hospital Lewisham in the same position in 2017 and have continued here since.

I spend a lot of time in clinical activities and enjoy bedside teaching for medical students and Junior Doctors. I collect clinical cases for teaching and find this a useful model to teach budding doctors/ trainees.

Additionally, I work as an author for StudyPRN. I take clues from day-to-day clinical scenarios when creating case vignettes, and the exercise has helped strengthen my clinical knowledge. Therefore, by working with StudyPRN, I can provide practical case scenarios that trainees will see in their clinical practice while reinforcing my clinical knowledge.

I am a Stroke, Geriatric and Internal Medicine Consultant at NHS Tayside. In addition, I’m the Governance Lead for the Stroke Department at Ninewells Hospital, Local Coordinator of Safe Implementation of Treatments in Stroke (SITS), and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Dundee.

After completing my MBChb from the University of Dundee (2009), I went on to achieve my MRCP (UK) in 2014, followed by my appointment of Geriatric and General Internal Medicine Specialty Training (NHS Tayside), and then successfully completed my Geriatric Specialist Certificate Examination in 2016. Most recently, I received my Certificate of Completion of Training (Geriatric Medicine, Stroke Medicine and General Medicine) in 2020.

I am a member of several medical organisations including the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (RCPE), the British Geriatrics Society (BGS), and the British Association of Stroke Physicians (BASP) amongst many others.
